When most people hear the word “persecution,” they often picture targeted instances of harassment or violence, such as murder, imprisonment, or kidnapping. In these instances, we must tailor our response to serve the larger community. For example, when violent militants sweep across an entire village, ravaging lives, homes, and farmland, we must help the entire village get back on its feet through livelihood assistance and other forms of communal care.
That is just what we are doing in Nigeria, where countless Christian farmers have been pushed off of their land by Islamist Fulani militants. In response, we have provided these displaced families with farmland, equipment, seeds, and more to help them rebuild, literally from the ground up. As a result, thousands of families are once again able to sustain themselves by doing what they already know how to do: farm.






A few days ago, we began a conversation with author and scholar Paul Marshall about religious freedom in light of blasphemy laws, hate speech, and more.
In many cases, such laws are presented from an optimistic lens of trying to clamp down on hatred. However, the manner in which these laws are enforced are commonly antagonistic or used to silence those with unpopular opinions by society's standards.
As nations around the world, including those in the West, clamp down on free speech and religious freedom, it is essential that we speak up.





Although the authorities were alerted of the attack in advance, they
did not arrive until after the damage was already done. We urge you to
join us in raising your voice on behalf of our brothers and sisters in
Nigeria as they call for action. In Nigeria, we are witnessing a genocide unfold against the nation's Christian community. As we wait for the Nigerian government to take any meaningful action, yet another attack took place recently in Kaduna State.
During the attack, extremists targeted a seminary, setting the buildings ablaze. While thankfully most were able to escape, one seminarian was trapped and sadly lost his life.
