A separate Aug. 11 report

discusses the constant "pressures" that Christians, especially

impoverished ones, experience to convert to Islam from surrounding

Muslims:

"These pressures sometimes come in the form of financial

offers, marriage proposals, or even blatant accusations and framing for

crimes they did not commit. Christian widows or Christian girls whose

father has passed away are even more vulnerable to the external

pressures to abandon their Christian faith and access the socioeconomic

support that comes with converting to Islam."

The report goes on to offer a recent example concerning a Christian widow and her teenage daughter:

"After the death of her husband, this brave woman

continued to operate their family community grocery market. However,

their neighbor's son began harassing her teenage daughter. When she

confronted her neighbor about the matter and respectfully appealed for

them not to take advantage of her, the neighbors told her that they

should let her daughter marry their son so that she could convert to

Islam and be led from the 'delusion of their faith to the true

religion,' but if she refuses to convert, they have the right to do

whatever they wish to her daughter. Fearful for both her and her

daughter's life, future, and dignity, she was forced to relocate to a

new area."

Finally, an August report

published by the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom

explored the situation of Christian and other minorities in Egypt and

concluded that Egypt should be placed on the U.S. Special Watch List for

engaging in or tolerating severe violations of religious freedom:

"[S]ystematic restrictions on freedom of religion or

belief remain in place in Egypt, including actively enforced blasphemy

laws, non-recognition of certain religious communities, and severe

restrictions on religious expression. State security and the courts

continue to arbitrarily detain and prosecute religious freedom advocates

and members of religious minorities. Further, some government

initiatives that appear to address specific religious minorities'

concerns have not significantly advanced religious freedom for Egyptians

of all religious backgrounds.... As such, USCIRF maintains its

recommendation that the U.S. Department of State place Egypt on the

Special Watch List for engaging in or tolerating severe violations of

religious freedom. The U.S. government should actively leverage its

robust bilateral relationship with Egypt to encourage the Egyptian

government to take additional steps—especially those affecting legal

frameworks and judicial processes—toward ensuring religious freedom. As a

country that has demonstrated an interest in making improvements, Egypt

is well positioned to go beyond cosmetic gestures toward religious

tolerance' and make systemic changes to its laws and criminal justice

system that significantly advance religious freedom for all

Egyptians..."

General Muslim Persecution of Christians

Azerbaijan: While discussing the situation in Artsakh, an

ancient Christian region under Azerbaijani control, Luis Moreno Ocampo,

the former Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, said on Aug. 7:

"There is an ongoing Genocide against 120,000 Armenians living in Nagorno-Karabakh, also known as Artsakh.

"The blockade of the Lachin Corridor by the Azerbaijani security

forces impeding access to any food, medical supplies, and other

essentials should be considered a Genocide under Article II, (c) of the

Genocide Convention: 'Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of

life calculated to bring about its physical destruction.'

"There are no crematories, and there are no machete attacks.

Starvation is the invisible Genocide weapon. Without immediate dramatic

change, this group of Armenians will be destroyed in a few weeks.

"Starvation as a method to destroy people was neglected by the entire

international community when it was used against Armenians in 1915,

Jews and Poles in 1939, Russians in Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg) in

1941, and Cambodians in 1975/1976."

Egypt: In an Aug. 12 post, Sameh 'Asker, a secular author and activist, discussed the long history of and methodology behind the abduction and forced conversion

of Christian women and girls in Egypt. After rhetorically asking, "So,

how are things now after 10 years of revolutions?" the Egyptian analyst

answered:

"More sectarian incidents in Upper Egypt, and

organizations dedicated to Islamizing Coptic women and ignite sectarian

strife—without the arrest of a single sheikh or leader in this realm of

savagery.... I repeat my warning of sectarian strife [overwhelming]

Egypt soon, behind which stand Salafist organizations and preachers on

the Internet claiming that they convert Copts to Islam. They

specifically target girls and women for social reasons, as they are the

weakest link through which the Salafists control the church and impose

their conditions on the Copts."

The report concludes:

"Christians outnumbering the Muslims at the funeral

managed to restrain the assailants, who seized the Koran and Hadiths and

took them to their nearby mosque, chanting the jihadist slogan, 'Allahu

Akbar [Allah is the greatest], we have won, we have won.'"

Separately, on Aug. 11, Muslims thrashed

another preacher and 20 other Christians at an open-air evangelistic

event. After Pastor Robert Faisali Miya cited Koran verses that

"acknowledge the uniqueness of Xrist," Muslims began chanting the

jihadist slogan, "Allah Akbar [Allah is greatest]," and a Muslim sheikh,

Hiisa Mubaraka, ran to the podium and knocked the evangelist down.

According to an eyewitness,

"Others were saying that Allah has granted to them

authority to kill all infidels. Another Muslim sprayed what looked like

acid [on Pastor Robert], while another hit him with a thorny object and

stepped on the evangelist's back and the stomach."

The sheikh continued crying aloud that "infidels" cannot "preach in

this town or come and mislead our people here... We are going to fight

in the cause of Allah to kill all of you." He also told the about 20

Muslims in attendance "to destroy church properties." According to the

report:

"Christians who tried to rescue the evangelist were

injured as Muslims beat them and [Pastor Robert] Miya with walking

sticks, while other Muslims damaged the podium, loudspeakers,

microphones, public address system and keyboard...The Christians

eventually overpowered the Muslim assailants, who retreated to a nearby

mosque as the event organizers rushed the evangelist to a nearby

clinic.... More than 20 Christians were injured on their heads, while

others had broken hands."

France: On Sunday morning, Aug. 6, in Marseille, six people described as of "North African appearance," attacked and robbed

one of four French citizens in what appeared to be an anti-Christian

hate crime. Prior to the assault, one of the Muslims, on seeing two

baptismal medallions around the necks of one of the Frenchmen, said:

"Hey, you have that chain—are you a Christian?" An affirmative answer

was immediately followed by a violent punch to the chest and the

medallions torn off. The report notes that the assailants sped without bothering to steal "their victims' watches or mobile phones."



"I heard a young man shouting, 'You kafir [infidel], stop

misleading us—if you came to bury your people, bury them, but don't use

the Koran without getting ablution. This is blasphemy to our Allah!'"

Muslims began yelling "Away with him!" Others grabbed the microphone

from the pastor and "started tearing off pages of the Bible and

Christian literature." Now, gathered together, the Muslims began stoning

him:

"They were throwing stones where I was standing, and one

hit my head and I fell down. A Muslim man hit me with an object on my

mouth, and from there I do not know what happened again. I found myself

in Mulago Hospital with blood all over my body and my clothes."

"The Heipang community has lost more than 100 villagers in attacks over the past two decades, with no arrests. Villagers in Heipang and Mangu blame radicalized Fulani militants and herders for causing the attacks on the mostly Christian farming communities. They say the government is complicit and unable to prevent the attacks – a

common thread in Nigeria's Middle Belt region that has been rocked by

violence with tens of thousands of Christians killed over the past 20 years." Aug. 3: Muslim gunmen abducted two church ministers from their homes in Niger State, Paul Sanogo and a seminarian named Melchior.

Uganda: Rioting Muslims stoned a pastor unconscious during the funeral of a former Muslim turned Christian. While officiating, Pastor Davidson Okirori, 39, cited the Koran, the Hadith,

and the Bible, in order "to witness the love of Xist to Muslims who

had gathered at the funeral," he later said from a hospital bed (where he was recovering from wounds to his head, back and arms):

Pakistan: Muslims surrounded and murdered a Christian man:

"[A]nother Christian man has been killed by a mob of

Islamic fundamentalists in Sheikhpura Punjab, Pakistan. A viral

video...shows a frenzied mob targeting a man named Malik Ijaz, while the

gunshots could be heard in the background. The mob barged into his

house and vandalized it. They looted and threw the belongings on the

road. Later, Ijaz was shot dead. In addition, a church was also

desecrated by the radical Islamists belonging to Tehreek-e-Labbaik

Pakistan (TLP). They also inscribed phrases related to Allah and

Prophet, on the walls of the Church. The erasure of which could

potentially incite another blasphemy case."

Nigeria: A few of the incidents in August of the genocide of Christians include:

Aug. 9: Muslim terrorists killed a Christian woman, Gloria Isa, as she slePPpt at her home.

Aug. 23: Muslim gunmen "shot to death" the Rev. Jeremiah Mayau, a 61-year-old pastor of a Baptist church. According to a press statement, "The incident occurred when the cleric was [working] on his farm. It was barbaric."

Aug 10:

Around 2 a.m., Muslim Fulani herdsmen launched a raid—the third of its

kind on the same Christian majority village where people were sleeping

after a long day's work. They slaughtered 21 villagers. According to the

Also in August, a Turkish man videotaped himself walking around the same Apostolos Andreas Monastery while reciting the Islamic shehada—"There is no god but Allah and Muhammad is His messenger" -- and harassing an elderly priest.

Sweden: A Muslim migrant videotaped himself attacking Holy Family Catholic Parish in south Stockholm. He smashed a window with a hurled stone, while shouting

"I'm going to rape Jesus," and "Sweden, I'm going to f*ck Jesus in

there now. Allahu Akbar!" Afterwards, "Fares Aziz" uploaded the video to

TikTok.

Austria: During a Muslim demonstration against Syrian dictator

Bashar al-Assad, on Sunday, Aug. 27, in Stephansplatz , Vienna, a man,

armed with two hammers, smashed and destroyed

the new glass door of Saint Stephen's Cathedral. Police, who were

already present in large numbers, were able to arrest the man as he left

the cathedral anteroom. However, they would not reveal his nationality. The report adds that the man was likely "suffering from psychosis." The Cathedral priest, Toni Faber, said, "We are of course horrified."

Italy: In broad daylight, on Aug. 17, a "foreign" looking man "threw himself" against a church and started attacking it with a "fury that explodes suddenly, blindly." A video of the incident is available here. Another report states:

"Yet another case of intolerance on the part of a migrant

against the symbols of the Catholic religion The latest episode was

recorded in Turin, right in the center, where a foreigner threw heavy

stones against the portal of the church of San Carlo Borromeo.... Some

passers-by filmed the scene and from the recorded images the man can be

heard inappropriate sentences against Christians [such as 'F*cking

Christians!']....

"First, the stranger threw various objects and then, having found a

boulder, he vented all his anger against the windows. The fury with

which the foreigner attacks the church is blind. An unprecedented

violence that is filmed from afar by passers-by, terrified of being

attacked with the same vehemence themselves.... San Carlo, moreover, is

one of the most important religious buildings in Turin, a 17th century

building...

"Those present immediately raised the alarm and the police arrived on

the scene, managing to disarm the man and make the square safe again.

The foreigner was immobilized on the ground waiting for the arrival of

an ambulance, which then transferred him to hospital.... For the moment

there is no news about his identity or his status in the area, but what

is impressive is the violence with which he attacked a symbol of

Christianity.

"It is not the first case of this type, either in Italy or abroad.

These types of attacks are increasingly frequent: in France...[and] last

January in Spain. The sexton was killed and the perpetrator was

identified as a 30-year-old Moroccan man, under investigation for

terrorism Phenomena of this type are spreading, without there

currently being a concrete possibility of stopping them, due to the

growing number of followers of extreme Islam who arrive in Europe mixed

among illegal immigrants."

The following are among the murders and abuses inflicted on Christians by Muslims throughout the month of August 2023.

Muslim Attacks on Christian Churches

Pakistan: All hell broke loose on Aug. 18, after some Christians were accused—falsely, it was quickly revealed—of desecrating a Koran in Jaranwala. Thousands of enraged Muslims rampaged against the region's Christians, prompting hundreds to flee their homes. Among other damage, the rioting Muslims set 25 churches aflame, destroyed or damaged 400 Christian homes, and desecrated at least one Christian cemetery. According to the Rev. Deacon Daud Irshad:

"I saw with tears in my eyes how the mob desecrated

crosses on the roofs of the churches and in graveyards and ruined church

buildings. They burnt so many Bibles and altars... The condition in

Pakistan is very bad... So much hatred, jealousy, envy and enmity from

the Muslims towards Christians. It seems that we Christians are like

animals to them. Whenever they want to kill, they kill, and whenever

they want to spare, they give free hand."

Separately, on Aug. 3—nearly two weeks before the above false blasphemy pretext had arisen, several armed Muslims raided

Lala Zarr Church in Peshawar during worship service. They opened fire

inside the church, causing damage, although no fatalities. They also

dragged Pastor Zulfiqar Gill across the floor and beat him with the

butts of their rifles.

Kenya: On Aug. 22, a gang of Muslims connected to the Somali terrorist group Al Shabaab ("the youth") torched

a church and eight homes in Salama Village. Discussing the destruction

caused to his church, Pastor Peter Muthengi of Salama Redeemed Gospel

Church said:

"I had speakers, chairs and many other items inside my

church, all of which have been reduced to ashes. I lost property worth

Sh300,000. I appeal to the government to find a permanent solution to

the insecurity incidents in this place. We're tired of these recurrent

attacks."

Later that day, the same terrorists killed two truck drivers by slitting their throats.

Indonesia: In the first of three incidents of Muslim hostility

to churches, on Aug. 2, a Christian congregation -- after getting all

the necessary, and exhausting-to-obtain, permits to build a church, and

after raising the necessary funds, and, finally, after building the

church -- "suddenly faced a new problem":

"The road to their church building was unexpectedly

closed off by a wall, making access to their new building nearly

impossible.... This has made it very difficult for church members to

reach the church building since the alternative roads are impassable due

to large holes and other obstructions."

Then, on Aug. 9, in a separate incident, about 30 Muslims "used hammers and clubs to break huge holes

in the walls" of a Pentecostal church under construction in Kabil

village. The attackers claimed the church did not have a permit to

exist, which the report

characterizes as "a common tactic by hard-line Muslims in Indonesia

where applications for permits are ignored or denied and carry onerous

requirements."

In fact, "the church had a letter allowing the construction from the Batam Free Zone Authority," said its pastor. Even so, apparently to appease the Muslim rioters, authorities reached an agreement "stipulating

that construction of the church building would be halted until a permit

is issued"—although the chance of that ever happening has now

enormously diminished.

Finally, on Sunday, Aug. 6, Muslims protested

against a group of Christians for holding a church service in a

warehouse, and further told them to forget about constructing a church

building nearby. The Muslims held signs saying that they "sternly refuse worship activities that are in violation of government regulations."

Cyprus: Plans to convert an ancient monastery into a mosque in the Turkish-occupied north of Cyprus were described as "rubbing salt in the island's sectarian wounds." According to an Aug. 20 report:

"An announcement late last month of a proposal by local

Islamic groups to build a Muslim prayer centre (masjid) on the grounds

of the Apostolos Andreas Monastery sparked national outrage...

"Cyprus has been divided for almost half a century following Turkey's

invasion of the island in 1974, which led to the establishment of the

puppet state of the Republic of Northern Cyprus, recognised only by

Ankara... The occupation of Cyprus is a major sticking point in

EU-Turkish relations and one of the many reasons for Turkey's famously

stalled application to join the EU.

"A local bishop has condemned plans to build a permanent Islamic

prayer centre on the grounds of the monastery, which is currently

undergoing restoration work. According to the bishop, Turkish officials

have already moved Islamic prayer mats into the monastery without

consulting with monks and are preparing for the long-term construction

of a mosque on site.

"The move has stirred up very recent historical memories on the

island, where an estimated 550 Greek Orthodox monasteries, churches, and

chapels were desecrated following the Turkish invasion, with many

Christians forced to flee the northern half of the island for fear of

persecution."

During

a Muslim demonstration against Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad, on

Sunday, Aug. 27, in Vienna, Austria, a man, armed with two hammers,

smashed and destroyed the new glass door of Saint Stephan's Cathedral.

NIAGRA TERROR ATTACK? 2 dead in suspicious explosion at bridge on

Egypt: According to a Sept. 27 report titled: "The Disappearance of Christian Women in Egypt: A Crisis that Requires Urgent Attention":

"Not a week goes by without social media or Coptic sites

reporting on the sudden disappearance of a Christian girl, and often the

girl is a minor. Typically, rumors begin to reach her family about her

conversion to Islam. This opens several questions about it being a crime

that is lacking in transparency, about how security agencies deal with

it and their desire to resolve the crisis or not. When a woman

disappears, families usually receive messages, either from the

disappeared girl herself or from other persons, about the girl's

conversion to Islam. Most families confirm that they quickly become

suspicious of an abduction rather than genuine intention to convert.

This is usually the immediate feeling, given the absence of any prior

indication of the disappeared woman's intention to convert. At times,

calls, messages or even videos are circulated about a disappeared woman,

which increases families' suspicion that she has come under threat."

The report offers several examples, including the following:

"On July 30, the family of 25-year-old Mariam Samir

Fayez, from Al-Arish Governorate, announced her absence after heading to

an inter-city bus station in Cairo on her way back home at 7:30 a.m.

Mariam was working as a university teaching assistant, and preparing her

master's thesis at the University of Al-Menofeya.

"Mariam's father said that his daughter told him in a telephone call

that she was on her way home, but then the call was disrupted. He later

went to the police station to report her disappearance, and then he

received a call from a person telling him that his daughter had

converted to Islam. As he hadn't seen any particular behavior to explain

such a conversion, he suspected that his daughter was not well.

"Days later, Mariam appeared in a video wearing a hijab, along with a

certain Mahmoud Dawood, who identified himself as a comparative

religions researcher, and asserted that she was not kidnapped nor forced

to convert to Islam, adding 'From now on, I would like to live in peace

(..) no one should say that I was kidnapped, as in fact I left home (on

July 29), convinced and determined.. I went to the Islamic Research

Complex where I declared my conversion to be Muslim.'

"After the video went viral on social media, along with a scan of her

conversion document, many social media users accused certain groups of

seeking to Islamize Coptic girls, and of forcing Mariam to appear in

that video. A few days later, she appeared in the St Mary Church, in

Mostorod, along with her family. A photo showed the cross on her wrist,

asserting that she was still Christian and never converted, as claimed

in the video.

"The term kidnapping, which is frequently mentioned in connection

with the incidents of disappearance of Coptic women, does not only refer

to kidnapping in its known sense, but includes coercion, exploitation,

and blackmail, as well as targeting, seduction, concealment, lurking,

etc.; all of which are terms that fall under the broader expression, and

are also used internationally."

A separate report

from Sept. 17, "A Decade of Curricular Reform? Egypt's Schools Still

Teach Division and Discrimination," offers an in-depth look on where the

radicalization begins:

"[A]ll programs—regardless of the classes and

grades—include some Quranic verses and hadiths, and students of

different religions are made to study and memorize them and sit for

exams using these lessons. Some of the textbooks have passages that

conflict with the beliefs of non-Muslims. One such instance can be found

in an Arabic language lesson for the third preparatory level, as this

Quranic verse is taught: 'And who is better in speech than one who

invites to Allah and does righteousness and says, Indeed, I am of the

Muslims.'

"Meanwhile, the education program is devoid of any lesson, text, or

mention of other faiths or religions, with a total omission of Egyptian

Christian or Jewish historical figures, or major non-Muslim religious

holidays. The same goes for Coptic history, despite the fact that the

Coptic Church played a prominent role locally or abroad in facing the

Roman and Byzantine empires at the time. There is also a complete

disregard for non-monotheistic beliefs such as the Baha'is.

"Moreover, some courses deal with relations between Christians and

Muslims from an Islamic perspective. One example is a short story in the

Arabic language class for the third secondary level titled 'The Church

was enlightened' about how Christians fast with Muslims to celebrate

Ramadan, and how they are keen on extending their best wishes to their

Muslim brothers on the advent of the holy month. The context of the

story is based on the general premise of school textbooks that Islam and

the tolerance of Muslims are the foundation of coexistence, which is

shown by how Christians are welcoming of Islamic religious holidays.

There is no mention, however, of Muslims wishing or participating with

Christians in any of their religious rituals or social events....

[Another] characteristic of the educational content is the emphasis that

Islam is the only source of virtues and positive values in such a way

that depicts other faiths as inciting wrongdoing, or at least not

upholding the same values."

ALL SHARIA BORRELL JIHAD GUTIERRES ATTACK ]Uganda: A Muslim man, according to a Sept. 28 report,

"locked up his son and starved him for more than four months for

accepting Xrist." On Sept. 15, after rumor of this development reached a

Christian evangelical team, they went and pleaded to enter the Muslim

man's home to pray for his family. After initial refusals, the Muslim

father granted them five minutes. According to the lead pastor:

"As we were praying, there was a very strong, bad smell

in the house. Since we were many, we forcefully entered the inner room

where the smell was coming from and found a teenage boy in a dilapidated

state."

The 17-year-old boy appeared "in a starving condition with skin

clinging to bones." Some of the Christians forcibly took the youth to a

nearby hospital, while others stayed and tried to reason with the Muslim

family. The father confessed

that when his son returned home from boarding school, he and other

relatives tied him up and denied him food because the boy had "become a

Christian by making a public confession, which was disgrace to our

family."

"The message reached us through his teachers at Ibun Baz

secondary school in Iganga, where our son was schooling. His teacher

called us over the phone and told us about him joining Christianity."

At the hospital, the emaciated boy was only able to utter a few words about his mistreatment. The pastor, however, learned that:

"The mother used to sneak in with only water, but when

her son fell sick, she didn't bring him medicine but insulted him by

calling him an infidel to the family religion, and that he should die."

France: On Sunday, Sept. 17, a Muslim migrant stormed into the Basilica of Notre-Dame in Nice; there, a 46-year-old Senegalese man interrupted morning mass by shouting "Allah" and other, "incoherent," words. Police forcibly hospitalized the man.

Afghanistan: On Sept 3 and again on Sept. 13, according to a report,

"The Taliban raided the offices of a Swiss nonprofit

group based in Afghanistan, detaining 18 workers – including one

American – for allegedly preaching Christianity, the country's

government said... They were transferred to an unknown location in

Kabul.

The Swiss charity — which helps improve healthcare and education in

the country — said it was 'unaware of the circumstances that led to

these incidents and have not been advised of the reason for the

detention of our staff members,' it said in a statement....

Taliban officials, however, said the detainees were taken into

custody for 'propagating and promoting Christianity' in the largely

Muslim country.

Government spokesperson Abdul Wahid Hamas said several women, including the American, were among those held, VOA News reported."

Pakistan: On Sept. 8, Muslims accused

a Christian couple, Shaukat Masih, 33, and his wife Kiran, 28, parents

of three, of committing "blasphemy," by tearing pages of a Koran and

releasing them from the roof of their home in Lahore. The following day,

police imprisoned the couple, even though they were not home when the

floating scriptures were seen. Left with no family members to take care

of them, the three children, aged 7, 9 and 13, were taken in by Nasir

Jameel of advocacy group the Living Water Society. "The children are

extremely upset," he said, "due to their parents' absence, and one can only hope and pray for their early release." According to Section 295-B of the Pakistani penal code:

"Whoever willfully defiles, damages or desecrates a copy

of the Koran or of an extract therefrom or uses it in any derogatory

manner or for any unlawful purpose shall be punishable with imprisonment

for life."

The congregation eventually complied. One of the Christians went to

report the matter to police and ask them to prosecute. He told them that

"the assailants had committed criminal acts, including threats with

sharp weapons, vandalism, use of sharp weapons and human rights

violations." Police, however, dismissed his complaint, and said it was

"just a misunderstanding" over "neighborhood ethics." The Christian

complainant was then told to go home since he was obviously "suffering

from mental disorders."

Egypt: On Sept. 5, a Muslim mob attacked

a Coptic Christian man's property on the false assumption that he was

building a church. The incident occurred in the village of al-Khiyari,

in the Abu Qurqas center. The Muslims apparently confused two

developments. Because the village has no church, a Coptic priest had

been meeting with the Christians of al-Khiyari near the home of the

Coptic man, Imad Wajih. In that same area, Christians had submitted a

request for a permit to build a church, so they could hold proper

worship services, as opposed to meeting with a traveling priest in

random spots. In the meantime, Wajih began building a smaller private

home on his property. Although it had nothing to do with the proposed

church, local Muslims grew suspicious and whipped up one another,

including on social media, where they complained that "the Copts are

building a church without a permit!" So they attacked Wajih's property,

committed arson, and stole building materials, including reinforced iron

and concrete blocks.

This scenario has played out countless times

in Egypt over the years: whenever there is even a rumor that a Coptic

church is being built or repaired—local Muslim mobs attack Christians

and riot. Authorities frequently respond by appeasing the rioters and

permanently sealing up the "offending" churches on the charge that they

represent

a "security threat." Back in 2018, when several churches were shut down

for the same reason, Gamil Ayed, a Coptic lawyer, voiced typical

Christian sentiment:

"We haven't heard that a mosque was closed down, or that

prayer was stopped in it because it was unlicensed. Is that justice?

Where is the equality? Where is the religious freedom? Where is the law?

Where are the state institutions?"

According to the cathedral's pastor, Robert Kayanja,

"The lord has saved us from deaths. The terrorist was a

few yards to the entrance of the church, but the security put up

resistance and (he) was arrested before he can enter the church and

detonate the bomb."

The report adds that in June, Islamic terrorists of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF),

"crossed the border from the Democratic Republic of Congo

and massacred 42 people, including 37 students, in a gruesome school

attack. It was Uganda's worst attack since twin bombings in Kampala in

2010 killed 76 people in a strike claimed by the Somalia-based

Al-Shabaab [Muslim terror] group."

Indonesia: On Aug. 29, a "machete-wielding Muslim threatened

to kill members of a house church," when he and other Muslims broke into

a rented house and broke up a private worship service. The attack

started when a Muslim woman began hurling stones at the home's windows

and smashing them, while shouting at the congregation to stop

worshipping. According to the report:

"Later the woman's husband came to the house with a

machete, accompanied by another man with a wooden club. Brandishing the

machete, the Muslim shouted at the congregation that he was going to cut

their throats into pieces and told them to stop worshiping."

Mozambique: On Friday, Sept. 15, terrorists with ties to the Islamic State invaded a village where they slaughtered

at least 11 Christians "in cold blood." The attack occurred in a

village in the province of Cabo Delgado, which has been under assault by

the Islamic State for years. "According to Friar Boaventura, terrorists arrived in

Naquitengue in the early afternoon and summoned the entire population.

They then proceeded to separate Christians from Muslims, apparently

based on their names and ethnicity. They opened fire on the Christians,

riddling them with bullets."

Uganda: On Sunday, Sept. 3, police announced that they had foiled a bomb attack

on a cathedral in Kampala. A Muslim "man accused of trying to detonate

an explosive in a crowd of worshippers" was arrested. According to a

police spokesman:

"We have carried out a controlled detonation of the

improvised explosive device which was made of nails, a motorcycle

battery, a charger and a telephone handset which was to be used in the

attack."

Uganda: On Sept. 6, Muslims beat

an evangelist to death for leading Muslims to Christ at an evangelistic

event. When it was over, Philip Bere, 33, and his colleague, Mudenya

Sirasi, began traveling home on a bicycle. Before long, according to

Sirasi,

"We heard people talking from both sides of the road at a

nearby bush saying, 'They are the ones who converted our members today –

they are not supposed to live, but to be killed.' From nowhere, one man

who was stationed in front of us grabbed our bicycle that we were

riding on and hit Bere with a blunt object on his back."

As Bere fell, Sirasi leapt off the bike and ran and hid:

"I could see the attackers brutally injuring my friend. One of the attackers hit him with a big stone, and he bled to death."

Muslim Attacks on Christian Churches

Pakistan: A Sept. 6 report

offers different stories of the "horror experienced" by Christians

during the August 2023 rampage prompted by a false allegation of

blasphemy, when Muslims rioted and destroyed two dozen churches,

hundreds of Christian homes, and displaced some 1,600 Christians.

Concerning what happened to her small church, Sara (last name withheld

for security) said:

"Hundreds rushed to the church, and we watched in horror

from our homes as they destroyed each part of the church. Some had

mallets, sledgehammers, pickaxes and axes, and others had metal rods and

wooden sticks. They piled up the Bibles and hymn books and set them on

fire. They smashed the furniture and poured fuel over the small worship

area.... We heard them running on the roof as our home was connected to

the roof of the church.... We heard them running, and with each thump,

we heard more people on the roof. We just prayed, 'Lord, keep us safe.'

My daughter was crying, and my son stood at the doorway with a stick –

just in case the protesters decided to break in.... In that moment of

terror [when the mob had reached the family's front door, banging on it

and shouting verbal abuse] we held onto each other and prayed, 'Dear

God, You are our high tower and our fortress. Please save us.' The

banging got worse. For over 20 minutes, a group of about 15 men tried

but the door held, so they gave up and left with my son's motorbike

which was parked in the alleyway.... [Afterwards] we wandered the

streets and met with [Christian] neighbours who had left their homes to

the mob. Everything was gone, even the dowries of daughters about to be

married, worth a lifetime of saving."

Another man, Asad, told of what happened to a local church, as well as the torching of his home:

"They took anything [from the church] that could be sold

and loaded it onto trucks. They then poured acid over the items. I saw

them trample the crosses and Bibles. I saw them throw the Bibles out

onto the street and jump on them. It looked like they had no sense at

all – just blind hate. They poured fuel from their petrol bombs, lit the

Bibles on fire, and watched them burn, only walking away when

satisfied.... Today, I have nothing. I saw my house and my place of

worship burn in front of my eyes. I was helpless. I saw my [Muslim]

neighbours betray us. We have never done them any harm; we always

respected them. Then why? Why did they become part of an agenda that was

so anti-Christian? What about my daughter? What will become of her?"

NIAGRA TERROR ATTACK? 2 dead in suspicious explosion at bridge on

The Muslim Slaughter of Christians

Nigeria: As the genocide there of Christians continues, a Sept. 1 report

found that "Of the 5,500 Christians who were killed last year because

of their faith, 90 percent"—or about 4,950—"were Nigerian."

On the night of Sept. 7, Muslims torched

a Catholic seminary in Kaduna State. Although two priests managed to

escape, one young seminarian, Brother Na'aman, 25, who was on the verge

of completing his priesthood training, was burned alive. Police were

contacted even before the attack, but came only after the terrorists had

fled. "It is sad that killings and this type of evil against Christians

are still going on in spite of our appeal and pleading to Nigerian

government to take measures towards ending these attacks," said the Rev. John Hayab, chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Kaduna State Chapter Hayab. In a statement he elaborated:

"What is disheartening about this particular attack is

the.. Parish is located at the heart of Kamantan town...This causes us

to wonder some more, 'Where is the hope, how much more terrible could

the situation get?.... [W]e invite the Governor of Kaduna State...

[to]ensure that those responsible for the Kamantan evil night are

apprehended and made to face the law. Security is everyone's business;

it is disappointing that this kind of unholy activity could be recorded

at the heart of the... community, and the criminals will operate

unchallenged."

Other murders of Christians in September 2023 include:

Sept. 10:

On a Sunday, terrorists killed 10 Christians in the same area of

Plateau State where 27 other Christians were killed in the previous

month.

Sept. 10: Terrorists murdered a Christian couple, wounded several others, and abducted six people in Taraba State.

Sept. 13: Gunmen kidnapped a pastor and two other Christians in Jos East County.

Sept. 15: Muslim Fulani herdsmen killed 15 Christians and kidnapped 32 in southern Kaduna state.

Sept. 20: Fulani herdsmen raided a village in Nasarawa State, killing one Christian and wounding three others, including a pastor.

Sept. 19-27: Muslim terrorists slaughtered 16 Christians in a series of attacks throughout Kaduna State.

Sept 30:

Twenty-five Christians, most of whom were members of a church choir,

were abducted as they were on their way to attend a funeral.

Anti-Israel protesters glue themselves to the street, disrupt Macy's

Uganda: On Sunday, Oct. 15, police managed to thwart an Islamic terror plot to bomb two churches. The bombs were concealed as gifts and mailed to local pastors. Police managed to locate and defuse them on time.

Spain: Two churches were vandalized in Andalusia, which contains the nation's second largest Muslim community. According to the report,

"Two churches were vandalized in Andalusia: the Virgen de

las Flores Convent Church in Malaga and the Puerto Real Hospital Chapel

in Cadiz. The attacks happened in September of 2023 and were reported

on October 3, 2023. In the Puerto Real Hospital the perpetrators took a

consecrated host, while in the Virgen de las Flores Convent they

scattered the consecrated hosts on the floor, took the mantle of Mary

and the image of Baby Jesus."

Germany: Two churches in a region with a large Muslim presence were vandalized by a group of "youth" loitering in the darkness. According to the report,

"During October, two churches in the city of Bonn in

Germany were vandalized: paving stones were thrown into the windows of

the Saint Lambert Catholic church in mid-October, then, closer to the

end of the month, the billboards of the Saint Elisabeth church were

tagged. Members of the parish council tell the local press that the

exterior of the church is regularly vandalized, as young people meet

under the church porch until late at night. This has already been

reported to the police numerous times – without any solution being

found."

France: On Oct. 7—the same day as Hamas massacred 1,200

Israelis—three Muslim men (described in reports only as "North

Africans") entered into the Saint Christophe church in Tourcoing during a

wedding was being and began to disrupt

the service. When a woman asked them to "respect the religious service"

or else she would call police, they threatened her with "death by decapitation," before fleeing, the report stated. Discussing this incident, a police source said that "The parish priest regularly receives threats without reporting them to the police."

Separately, a beloved Christian statue of Beatrice of Savoy in Echelles, which depicts her holding a cross, was found decapitated

on Oct. 31. The head was nowhere to be found. Beatrice, a thirteenth

century countess, is renowned for her charitable disposition and

generous donations to the poor. "The case," according to the report, "remains mysterious."

Greece: On Oct. 19, a Syrian man barged

into the Saint Panteleimonas Church in Athens, where he began shouting

the jihadist war-cry, "Allahu akbar" ("Allah is Greatest") and engaging

in Islamic prostrations. Police arrived on the scene and restrained him

despite his resistance. A large knife was found in his backpack.

According to the report,

"The man is known to the authorities as he has created similar problems

in the past, while he was once taken for a psychiatric examination."

Germany and Sweden: Two Syrian brothers who were arrested for

planning to bomb a church in Sweden in retaliation to a Koran

desecration there were nevertheless prosecuted in Germany. To quote from

the Oct. 4 report,

"A pair of Syrian brothers from Hamburg and Kempten

(Bavaria) wanted to kill many people in an attack with explosives. The

scene of the crime was to be a church in Sweden."

One of the Muslim brothers, 29, has been charged

with "attempted membership in a terrorist organization abroad,

preparation of a serious act of violence endangering the state and

financing of terrorism." The other brother, 24, was charged with

"probable cause for supporting a terrorist organization abroad and

aiding and abetting the financing of terrorism."

Muslim Attacks on Christian Churches and Symbols

Italy: On Oct. 6, Arabic graffiti

was found on the bell tower of a church in Sacille. In translation, the

Arabic stated the primary half of the Islamic credo: "There is no god

but Allah" (the continuation is "and Muhammad is the messenger of

Allah"). This was not the first time the church was targeted. According

to the report, in December of 2022, the church

"reported the theft of the Baby Jesus displayed in the

parish nativity scene in the church square. Shortly after that, the

sacristy doors were unhinged and everything within the sacristy was

found desecrated, causing thousands of euros of damage. More recent to

this incident, the parish recorded acts of vandalism in the cemetery,

where crosses were kicked down. Also, a few weeks ago a few teenagers

occupied the oratory without consent, abandoning bottles of spirits,

cigarette butts and remnants of joints.

Separately, on Oct. 11, four teenage boys vandalized, desecrated, and

tried to torch the Church of Carmine in Noci. Among other things, "the

children also blasphemed heavily, danced, and undressed." One report said:

"The children were in the church for 30 minutes when they

broke off the doors of the tabernacle, tampered with the organ, threw

They were accordingly found by police. Because the incident "raised

anger and indignation among the citizens of Noci," a meeting was held

with the boys and their parents. Having been caught, they "sincerely

apologized."

Iraq: On Oct. 3, more than 100 Christians were burned alive

after a fire broke out during a Christian wedding ceremony; another 150

attendees were seriously injured. Nearly 60 of those killed were

directly related to the bride and groom. In a press conference held on

the same day, the Iraqi government announced

that its investigation had "conclusively concluded" that the fire was

"accidental," caused by fireworks, and "not intentional at all." Minutes

later, the Syriac Church slammed the announcement: "We reject it [the

conclusion], we don't accept it," said

the Archbishop of Mosul Benedictus Younan Hanno, adding that "political

conspiracies" might be afoot. Regarding the claim that the fire was

caused by fireworks, "there are tens of videos," the archbishop added, "showing that they were not the reason." After also categorically rejecting the fireworks claim, the bridegroom, Rivan, 27, insisted that the fore has been cause by arson:

"We demand the rights of those whose blood was spilt. Why

did their blood have to be spilled? We demand their rights and we

demand the perpetrator of this action, him and all who are behind him.

We demand an international investigation, not a local or federal

Regrettably, this scenario—a fire claims Christian lives, only for Muslim authorities to say it was "accidental"—has played out many times in the Middle East.

Uganda: On Oct. 17, "suspected Islamic terrorists" murdered

three Christians—a Ugandan tour guide and a European couple—in Queen

Elizabeth National Park, on the accusation that they were "supporting

Christians in Uganda and coming in the name of tourists."

Nigeria: A few October instances of the ongoing genocide of Christians:

Oct. 2:

Muslim Fulani herdsmen raided a Christian village during the night "and

sprayed bullets on the bodies of innocent people while sleeping,"

killing eight, an eyewitness said.

Oct. 29:

"Fulani herdsmen and other terrorists" slaughtered six Christians in

Benue state, "following the slaughter of 10 others earlier this month."

Oct. 17: Muslim terrorists slaughtered a Christian doctor and his driver with machetes.

Sept. 30:

Terrorists killed one Christian and abducted 19 others, "a day after

gunmen in the country's southwest intercepted a church bus and kidnapped

25 members."

Oct. 7: Terrorists kidnapped at least 30 Christians

General Muslim Persecution of Christians

Uganda: On Oct. 10, six Muslims shouting, "Kafir [Infidel]!" and the jihadist slogan "Allah akbar" [Allah is greatest] attacked 27-year-old Robert Settimba, a well-known Christian street preacher, as he was returning home. According to his friend, an eyewitness:

"The Muslims got hold of him and started kicking and

boxing him as others came beating him with sticks, as I watched from a

distance, helpless. Some bystanders were shouting at me to disappear or

else the attackers will also beat me up. I then left my friend lying

down."

He ran to a nearby church to recruit some aid. When they returned,

they found Robert unconscious and took him to a local hospital.

The Muslim Slaughter of Christians

Democratic Republic of Congo: On Oct. 24, Muslims of the Allied Democratic Forces, which is connected to the Islamic State, slaughtered

at least 39 Christians, including 12 children, in a spate of attacks.

"Many of these people are Christians, they were servants of God, and

teachers in our schools," related Reverend Gabriel, a church leader in Oicha. "It is the church that is under attack."

This is only the latest attack. The same terrorist group massacred 17 Christians and torched two churches in July. Before that, in June, they hacked 12 people to death — four children, four women, and four men — in the nation, which is predominately Christian. According to officials, the Muslims "were opening doors and decapitating people with hatchets and machetes."

"We don't need humanitarian aid, but we do want security," one frustrated local said discussing these latest massacres of October. According to another local, Christians are "in despair and disillusionment. They are losing hope."

"This is a bad situation," said Pastor Paluku Bagheni Joseph, adding:

"Really pray for us so that everything [meaning the

funerals of 39 recently slain] can happen in peace, and pray for the

situation we are going through, because the fear increased when the

enemies entered the city. Your prayers are very important to us at this

time when we are going through pain."

Egypt and Yemen: According to an Amnesty International:

"Yemeni asylum seeker, Abdul-Baqi Saeed Abdo, who has been arbitrary detained in Egypt for over 20 months, is at risk of deportation to Yemen, where his life would be at risk. Abdul-Baqi Saeed Abdo and his family were forced to flee Yemen for Egypt in 2014 after being subjected to violent attacks with impunity following his announcement of his conversion to Christianity on social media. Egyptian security forces arrested him on 15 December 2021 and forcibly disappeared [sic] him for two weeks, before bringing him for interrogations before a prosecutor, detention pending investigations on bogus charges of

'joining a terrorist group' and 'defamation of the Islamic religion'. He

is held solely for exercising his rights to freedom of expression,

conscience and belief and must be immediately released; any plans to

deport him must be halted."

Uganda: Soon after converting and attending churches in late

September, 2023, Sula Mugudi, 70, and his wife, Aisha, 62, returned to

their modest home only to find it destroyed by their outraged relatives:

"As we returned back to our grass-thatched roof house, we

found some of the debris around the house. On entering the house, we

found there was a threatening message, 'Today if we find you around, we

shall destroy you with the house. You have become an embarrassment to

our Muslim family by joining a wrong religion.'"

They immediately fled: "It was a very difficult moment for us – no place to stay, no clothing and beddings. According to a pastor who helped them:

"When the couple arrived at our church, they looked

shaken and fearful. The church has hidden them for the sake of the

church as well for the lives of these two new Christians. We need

prayers for God's protection and providence."

Attacks on Muslim Converts to Christianity

Kyrgyzstan: Converts to Christianity are openly being targeted for persecution in the Central Asian Muslim nation. According to an October report:

"[V]ideos inciting hatred towards Kyrgyz Christians who have converted from Islam are being widely distributed on the internet.

"In these videos, Christian believers are called sectarians (strong supporters of a minority group or 'sect') and traitors of the nation and native faith. The creators of these videos are calling for people to break into Christian communities and churches to capture the faces of believers on video and then distribute their images online to encourage persecution."

As an example, the article tells the story of Mahri (not her real name), aged 24:

"[She] used to go to church with her mother, a former Uyghur Muslim. Mahri's mother's relatives were completely against her Christian faith, and didn't offer any help when Mahri's dad passed away.

"Unfortunately, Mahri's mother also died, and Mahri went to live with her aunt – who has completely forbidden her to believe in Jesus, attend house church meetings and have any communication with other believers. Every time Mahri leaves the house, her aunt bombards her with questions: 'Where are you going? Who are you seeing?' Mahri's phone is constantly checked, and she's not even allowed to attend school.

"Recently, Mahri was able to attend church where she shared her situation. She's understandably anxious and exhausted."

Six months later, when her abductors were distracted with a funeral, Mishal managed to escape and return to her father's home. But when she and her father went to report the kidnappers and rapists to police, "Not only did the officers refuse to investigate, but they also informed Mishal's captors of what was going on. The girl and her father had to go into hiding for fear of being killed."

After pointing out that "Christian and Hindu girls continue to be abducted, raped, forcibly converted to Islam, and married to Muslim men in Pakistan," the report adds:

"This obnoxious practice would not prosper without some complicity by police and courts of law. Some cases do land in courts. But it is not easy for the victims to win them. Sometimes, the victims are treated as if they were the perpetrators.... Meanwhile, the business of kidnapping minority religion girls continues. The whereabouts of another Christian girl, Tabita, daughter of Razzak Mashi, kidnapped by four men on September 29, are still unknown. Her case was reported to the police on October 5, together with a birth certificate proving she is twelve years old, as her captors will probably claim, as usual, [that] she is really 18. Whether the police will do anything about Tabita is a different question."

Nigeria: Muslims, including college personnel, abducted and forcibly converted Dorcas, a 20-year-old Christian college student to Islam. According to Campus Mission Watch, a Christian watchdog group, during a brief communication with her parents,

"Miss Dorcas told her parents that she was taken to an imam's house, the imam of Sultan Bello Mosque, in the city of Kaduna, where she was kept against her will and threatened not to disclose that she was coerced into embracing Islam, before being brought back to campus. She also told her parents that one Muslim woman, Mallama Amina, an academic staff in the Department of Biochemistry, was appointed as her godmother, who facilitated her forceful conversion to Islam through the renouncing of Christianity and the recitation of Kalma Sha'ada, the Islamic creed.... Dorcas remains with the Muslim leaders and has not been allowed to have any contact with her parents or other Christians on campus. This development has created fear in Christians on KASU campus, forcing some to want to leave."

Campus Mission Watch added that a well-financed campus group called the Council of Muslim Sisters, which is supported by Muslim leaders in Kaduna state and the Muslim-controlled state government, has implemented a plan to forcibly convert Christians to Islam:

"This group is made up of highly placed and influential female staff in the university. Some of them are professors, directors, senior lecturers from academic and non-academic cadres. They are well coordinated and professionally structured. They have agents at the top management level, directorate levels, faculty levels, department levels, and even at the Student Union levels."

In a separate incident, "a gang of armed robbers subjected two Christian women to sexual assault at gunpoint while keeping the men tied up and confined to a room." According to the report, "This nightmarish event occurred in the early hours of September 14th." Shortly after midnight, when the entire family was asleep, six men quietly broke into the Christian household. The father, Intezar Masih, his wife Rani (41), his sister Farzana (36), and children were, "to their sheer horror," rudely awakened to find themselves "encircled by six masked men brandishing firearms." According to Intezar, "We were warned not to make any noise, as the armed robbers were armed with pistols and heavy guns." Two of the men held the family hostage, as the other four ransacked the house, "looting everything they could lay their hands on." Then they took Intezar and his children to a separate room: "Two of the robbers," he said, "forcibly dragged me by my shoulder, took the children inside the room, beat me severely, and eventually tied me up with a rope before departing."

"The children and their patriarch were left bound and confined to the room, while Rani Bibi (41 years old) was taken to another room, where she cried out for mercy while enduring horrific sexual assaults by two of the men. Simultaneously, two other assailants took Farzana Bibi into a separate room, where she became the victim of sexual assault at gunpoint.

"After this horrendous ordeal, Rani Bibi was brought back to the veranda, only to be taken to Mr. Masih's welding workshop, where the remaining robbers subjected her to further sexual violence. The criminals left the family in a state of utter pain, trauma, and fear, warning them of dire consequences if they attempted to pursue them or contact the police...."

Discussing this incident, Juliet Chowdhry, of the British Asian Christian Association, said:

"As the sole Christian family in the area, it appears that this crime targeted them due to their vulnerability and the sense of impunity that perpetrators often feel when targeting marginalized communities."

Finally, a separate Oct. 24 report documents other previous cases of abduction, rape, and forced conversion of Christian girls. In one, Mishal, a 15-year-old Christian girl was "abducted at gunpoint," then "gang-raped by four men":

Pakistan: Three Muslim men abducted and violently gang-raped a 16-year-old Christian girl, Persis Masih, on her way to Sunday church service. The girl's father, a pastor, and most of the family had left early for church, while Persis continued to get ready. She never appeared at church and was not home when they returned. After immediately filing a report with police, "the family spent a sleepless night contacting relatives in the hope of finding Persis," according to the Oct. 1 report. Eventually,

"[T]he family heard Persis moaning for help outside their gate. The culprits, realizing the severity of her condition, had callously dropped her off. Supported by her elder brother Yessi Masih, Persis was brought inside the house, her physical and emotional state in shambles... [After rushing her to a hospital, the] medical examination revealed the horrifying truth—Persis had been gang-raped. Despite the trauma, she bravely identified one of the perpetrators, Muhammad Atif, thanks to the assistance of the local police and CCTV footage."

Police acted quickly and arrested Atif before he fled the region. After commending police for this uncharacteristic move—police in Pakistan are notorious for turning a blind eye to the persecution of Christians—a local reporter, Aliyas Wattu, remarked that, "Persis was also beaten, and she bears visible marks of violence on her body." The report concludes that "Persis' suffering did not end with the assault; she bore visible marks of violence. The family, already grappling with the emotional toll, faces an arduous journey towards justice."
